Andrew is one of only a few master qualified instructors in Scotland and is based in Kilsyth between Glasgow and Stirling. Andrew is a lifelong friend and former pupil of the famous casting champion and instructor, the late Peter Anderson. He received his first lesson from Peter aged 12 and continued to be mentored by him for many years. He became the first instructor in Europe to be awarded FFF THCI (Two Handed Casting Instructor) and also gained the MCI, and thereafter formed part of the assessment committee. Andrew has competed in many international events. His highlights include winning the first ICFF World Spey Casting Championships with standard fishing tackle in Fagerness Norway, 2010 and the international Spey Casting Championships in the same year. He will also be representing the UK in several events in this year’s World Fly Casting Championships. His achievements have led him to be invited to demonstrate his skills at many far flung destinations, including the famous Golden Gate Casting Club in San Francisco. He well known for his unique style of casting and he now spends his time demonstrating and mentoring groups and individuals. Andrew is also a consultant in product design and development with Mackenzie Fly Fishing Aapgai & FFF Master Certified Instructor.
