Joe Butler
From Mallow, Co. Cork, Joe has been fly fishing since he was in his teens. He started fly fishing in the Blackwater river at the age of 12 and moved into fishing competitions as he got older. He represented Munster on numerous occasions on river and lake with some success. His biggest achievement has been representing Ireland at the fips-mouche world championships in Norway in 2013.
He now finds himself fishing the lakes more, including Killarney, Lough Corrib, Lough Masks, Melvin and so on, enjoying fishing competitions on these lakes (World Cup, European Cup, Melvin etc). You will find him most weekends on his favourite lake Lough Corrib (weather permitting!).
He has been fly fishing since the age of 20. It is a big pastime of his, especially in Winter. Joe ties all types of flies, but Lough flies are his favourite. Joe posts on Facebook group Irish Lough Flies making many friends and hopefully helping some new comers along the way.
