David Collins, Cork City. I am fortunate to have fished some of the most scenic places in Ireland, such as Lough Mask & Corrib in the West; Killarney Lakes; Lough Currane Waterville and Lough Caragh in Glenbeigh.
My love for fly tying began at the age of 10 when tying flies to suit these lakes and loughs, bumbles being my favourite. Some years ago, I became a very keen salmon fisher and my passion for tying trout flies quickly changed to tying salmon flies. My rivers of choice are the Feale and the Blackwater.
When I am not fishing, I am tying. My fishing experience has enabled me to tie flies suitable to conditions. Because of my regular study of flies, both modern and of times past, I am constantly coming up with new variations. I have been fortunate enough to develop my passion for fly tying into a business that I love Windcroft Salmon Flies & Leather Items.
I am very proud of my handmade leather fly wallets in particular which include unique hand carved and hand painted images of a fishing theme. These are used to safely and stylishly store a fisherman’s most necessary items, his flies.
I am looking forward to seeing and chatting to you all when you visit my at the Irish Spring Angling Fair.
